JOB BOARD

The Taber Job Board features jobs from the Lethbridge Herald, Taber Times, Canada Job Bank, various Internet job sites, and local employer job postings. The Job Board is updated daily and also features information on upcoming training opportunities.

 

CASUAL LABOUR LIST

If you are interested in finding temporary/casual work until you land that full-time job, add your name to the Casual Labour List. You will require a resume for this and you are only on the list for a week at a time. Ask the Career Resource Centre staff for details and to place you on this list.

PLACEMENT AGENCIES

Placement agencies are another good source for finding employees for short and long term projects for employers. These agencies are great for people looking for work and want to get their foot in the door with some very good companies!

Job Links Employment Centre - Located in Lethbridge behind the main downtown Post Office (416 - 8th Street South), this Employment Centre offers employment related workshops, counseling, and placement services for people with disabilities or medical barriers to work.

FREE RESUME HELP! - We will provide you with help making a resume anytime.

WinWay Resume is a computer program that lets you make a resume the "easy way". Within a few minutes you can be making a very professional looking resume!

Resume Builder is a form that we developed at the Resource Centre to help people to put their resume information together. Dates, phone numbers, names, employer info, your interests are some of the areas that the form covers. For those job seekers with farming experience we have an additional form for listing agriculture experience.

Library Books - Have a look through our in-house library for books on resume writing, cover letters, interview skills and more...

Save Your Resume! - You can save your resume to our local secure server so that in the future you can easily make more copies, update it, or even call to have us fax it or email it to potential employers!

The Career Resource Centre provides FREE workshops to help you get to where you want to be! The workshops are run on an "as needed" basis. Dates and times are flexible. For more informaiton contact the CRC at (403) 223-5049.

ONE-ON-ONE CAREER PATHWAYS

If you are unsure about your ability to make appropriate career decisions, this workshop will assist in the career planning process. Standardized, reliable assessment tools will be used to gain awareness of where your work interests lie. Find the job you will love to do!

Our computer lab is equipped with eight computers to help you with your career and educational need. The computers include the following features:

Microsoft Office 2007 - All of our computers are equipped with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Publisher.

WinWay Resume - This excellent resume making program is on all of our computers.

Printer/Scanner/Fax Machine/Copier - Our all-in-one copier will help you with a variety of needs.

CD/DVD Burners - All of our computers are equipped with CD/DVD burners.

High-Speed Internet - Internet service provided by Alberta SuperNet.

Fax, Photocopying and Printing

Faxing, photocopying and printing of resumes and cover letters is available. Use of these services may be limited for non-employment related tasks.

Library

Our in-house library has over 1,000 books! Topics covered include resume and cover letter writing, interview techniques, careers, starting your own business, managing employees, various videos, teaching tapes .... and more Telephone books throughout Alberta are available. University and College calendars are available.

FREE Publications

Publications are supplied through Alberta Employment, Immigration and Industry. Publications include workbooks and information for Seniors, Youth, Career Changes, Employers, Job Seekers, Service Providers, Entrepreneurs, Education and Skills. We also display numerous brochures from local businesses and the Alberta Government regarding education, employment and related services.

Education Resources

Education resources are in the form of school calendars in our library section. Our web site also has some excellent links to other sites that can answer all of your education questions along with their contact information. Contact us regarding school funding as we can arrange for you to meet with a councilor.

Magazines

We have a wide selection of magazines which include Canadian Business, Profile, Alberta Venture, Entrepreneur, Alberta Report, Canadian Social Trends, Woman Today and Perspectives.

Newspapers

Newspapers include Lethbridge Herald (Daily), Taber Times (Weekly), Vauxhall Advance (Weekly), Medicine Hat (Wednesday), and more.
