POSITION:                               Learner Support Coordinator

 

REPORTING TO:                      Executives Director for Taber and District Community Adult Learning Association

 

HOURS:                                    30 to 35 HOURS PER WEEK – 9 MONTH PERIOD

(September – May)

 

 

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The Learner Support Coordinator provides support for learners to transition from one learning pathway to another. The position assists pathway transition from non-formal and foundational learning to formal learning.

 

The Learning Support Coordinator will connect learners to such services as;

·         further non-formal and formal learning this may include one on one assistance to ensure transition

·         connect learners to distance delivery options and provide support as needed

·         provide learner access to  information on courses and delivery methods

·         provide awareness of learning benefits and opportunities e.g. scholarships and grants

·         provide access to a broad range of supports and services such as mentoring, guidance, counselling and funding options

·         provide access to tutoring for students wishing to improve their academic success

·         links to online academic resources

·         provide support to existing programs through awareness and personal contact

·         connect students to learning assessment services

 

The Learning Support Coordinator will support the transition of learners to other non-formal and formal learning by;

·         set up classes as required

·         attending classes as needed with learner or arranging for student support

·         setting up learning appointments and where needed accompanying learners

·         orientation to new learning environments

·         working with the post secondary system and other learning systems to guarantee learner orientation and integration

·         follow up support

 

The Learning Support Coordinator will support other staff and learning programs offered by TDCALA;

·         attending programs to get to know learners and their learning goals

·         work with other staff in identifying learner needs and giving assistance in portfolio development and curriculum guidance

·         making other employees and students aware of upcoming training

·         coordinating further learning such as first aid, Class 1 training etc.

·         providing documentation for Mobius

·         other duties as required
