Chip
Carving
Chip Carving is a simple form
of relief carving. It is the first style of carving that master
carvers in Europe (think castles and cathedrals) teach their new
apprenctices. It is very easy to learn as virtually all cuts fall
into two categories: a two-sided chip (called a canoe) or a three
sides chip (called a triangle). Because only two carving knives
are used, the initial expense of buying tools is minimal. Most accomplished
carvers of whatever style (bark, caricature, love spoons, walking
sticks, wildlife, Architectual, etc.) started as Chip Carvers.
There are basically two classes,
each three hours in length. The first session covers safety, how
to hold the knife, sharpening, transferring patterns, two-sided
chips, three sides chips, order of cuts, ridges, straight line cuts,
freeform, laying out borders. Students are given a patterned proactive
board that they work through. Necessary tools are loaned and gathered
up at the end of class. Now that the students have some theory and
some practice, they are ready to apply this new knowledge.
The second session picks up where
the first left off. Students are taught some more advanced techniques
and now have the time and one-on-one guidance to work through their
beginner project.

Enduring Power of Attorney – A Personal Directive –
A Will: A Legal Toolkit
Planning for disability or death
is never pleasant. However, it is an important part of identifying
what you want done when something like this happens to you and helping
those around you carry out your wishes. An enduring power of attorney,

With them you can set out respectively:
– Who
will handle your financial affairs and how, if you become mentally
incompetent
– If
you become mentally incompetent, who will handle your medical and
other personal life decisions and the kinds of choices they can
make for you
– How
you want your estate to be dealt with at your death.
At this presentation you'll learn
